F clamps, also known as bar clamps or speed clamps, there are a type of clamp. The name comes from the letter "F". The F-Clamp is similar to the C-Clamp but has a wider open volume (throat). This tool is used in woodworking to make more permanent attachments with screws and glue, and in metalworking to weld and bolt parts together.
The F clamp consists of two horizontal bars connected by a vertical bar. There is a large screw on the bottom bar that can be used to tighten the clamp. F-Clamps are adjustable so they can be used on larger scale objects without the need for large screws. An F-Clamp is also a simple mechanical device used to hold engine and transmission parts together.
The clamp part has an adjustment screw for tightening and a lifting ring for attaching a lifting cable. In industry parlance, an F-clamp has jaws mounted on a flat bar, while pipe clamps of the same construction are typically mounted on 1/2" or 3/4" diameter pipe.
