The Himel molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) HDM3L - 125S/4P(A) - mag-therm - 80 A is a thermal-magnetic circuit breaker with a rated current of 80 A and a breaking capacity of 50 kA. It is a four-pole circuit breaker, which means that it can protect a three-phase electrical circuit. The circuit breaker is equipped with a thermal element that responds to overload conditions and a magnetic element that responds to short circuit conditions. The thermal element is made of a bimetallic strip that bends when it is exposed to heat. When the bimetallic strip bends enough, it trips the circuit breaker. The magnetic element is a solenoid that is energized when a short circuit occurs. When the solenoid is energized, it trips the circuit breaker.
The circuit breaker also has a delay function that can be set to 1, 3, or 5 seconds. This delay function allows the circuit breaker to tolerate brief overloads without tripping. This can be useful in applications where there are occasional spikes in current, such as when a motor starts up.
